1. Kitchen Gardens
2. Follow up on Children Monitoring
3. Preparation of Farms in readiness for Planting
4. Transplanting of Caliandra and Napier Grass and Potato Vines as Fodder
The following are the activities that took place during the month February, 2022 in Kakamega County – Maua and Mabuku Villages and in Vihiga County – Maseno/Coptic Lela Villages.
1. Kitchen Gardens
The new target families have been trained on how to make their Kitchen Gardens whereby each and every home has one of its own. Secondly they are planning to make one as a Group for their for Income Generating Activities. Once they start selling the vegetables each member will be able have some small monies to save in their Table Banking and Marry-Go-Rounds to increase their household’s utilities
To the benefits of women, Income Generating Activities needs to be enhanced and supported fully since the malnourished children needs traditional green leaves to boost their immune system and these needs to be located in or near the home where it can be obtained easily and quickly. Potential IGAs should concern activities where women can use skill they already possess and those that they will be trained on. Rural women have skills to do small scale plants and agricultural and animal production, processing and preservation. All these will be trained to our target families since the beneficiary who are children needs a lot of nutrition to grow and come out of malnourishment. The whole exercise will be a multiplication strategy to pass on to other groups.
